      Hey Michael,
      Thanks for posting the excerpt:
      Eisegesis Explanation
I listened again and I don’t disagree with the teaching and the context of Matt.18:19-20. What I’m concerned about is that if we teach that Matt.18:19-20 apply only and specifically to church discipline than I think we miss on some principles. If I misunderstood, all I can think is that based on the teaching last week the “interpretation” of Matt.18:19-20 applies to church discipline but the “application” could be more.

My questions again but a little more succinct:
Would it be considered eisegesis or spiritualizing if you consider that Jesus may also be re-emphasizing (with the word “Again” at the beginning of Matt:18:19) previous teachings such as Matt. 7:7-10?

Why wouldn’t the same authority of His promised presence apply to more than just church discipline that when two or more come into agreement in “His Name” asking(prayer) “anything” (forgiveness, healing, evangelism, administration, etc.)?

Couldn’t the principle of wisdom in numbers – Ecc. 4:9-12, Prov. 15:22, Prov. 11:14 and a word being established in the mouth of two or more witnesses apply when going before the Lord in prayer?

Would it be wrong that when a brother/sister comes for council amongst elders, and after discussing a particular issue, concern, trial or sin, that going before the Lord and praying “We come before You Father in the Name of Jesus, in agreement (establishing a word/council), that Your word says where two or more (witnesses to hold accountable that person) are gathered in Jesus name that He is with us, (His authority confirms “binds/loosens” the word/council provided). Is this wrong, is it eisegesis and spiritualizing scripture?

I have a conclusion, but would like to entertain some dialogue on the subject before going further.

Thanks again brother and mucho blessings of the Lord,
      Russ
